In collaboration with Helen Lin, we developed the concept for the website of Pink Label, a fictional brand created by Helen for her studio practice. The concept for the website is based loosely off of Coffee News, a weekly Canadian advertising publication in three columns, with advertising on the left and right columns and information in the center column. We wanted to ensure that Pink Label’s distinctive hand drawn style was still legible on the web but also wanted to allow for ordering and viewing of items. We looked to Shopsin’s General Store for general inspiration of a barebones ordering form that seemed still in line with the overall aesthetic of Pink Label.
Pink Label is a fictional brand grounded in real-time distribution with its own website, zine serialization, products, and identity. The brand features content involving East Asian pop culture, fashion, female adolescence, and growing up in a first-generation immigrant family within a transparently consumable and consistent artistic style.
